Summer Art Program 2010 July 6 -September 3 "Cultural Expeditions through Art"
Through art children will engage in a wide variety of cultural art expeditions with the intent to educate, enrich their lives, enjoy art, but most importantly to have fun as we create and explore. Our summer hours are 7:45-5PM and is $160/per week. You may choose any week(s) or all from below. A $25 deposit for each week desired would be required to hold your child's reservation with the balance due on their first day. ______July 5-9 Expedition to Australia: Captivate their imagination by creating a painting of the wonderful sight of the Great Barrier Reef. Design an adorable koala bear, & explore their culture through art. This is going to be an exciting week that your child will not want to miss!
______July 12-16 Visiting Greece: If your child enjoys working with clay this is a week you don’t want to miss out. Children will take an imaginary expedition through Greece. They will use clay to design a step by step a Greek inspired sculpture. The process will take a few days to complete. They will also create sketches reflecting some of Greeces beautiful vistas. Children will enjoy creating a beautiful work of art and will gain a sense of pride!
______July 19-23 Expedition to China: This can be a fantastic week for your child to utilize motor skills and captivate his/her imagination in many ways. Your child will experience the feeling of textile through silk fabrics as we create an adorable China text inspired silk banner. We will create a Ming Dynasty 3D painting (see attachment), and use recycle materials to create the Great Wall of China! Children will also enjoy getting China inspired face painting!
______July 26-30 Exploring Puerto Rico: Learn the rich Puerto Rican folklore through art. Mold clay into “el coqui”, Puerto Rican frog and create a Puerto Rican inspired painting. Your child will have so much fun as he/she listens to the beat of Latin music as they create. This week is going to be all about designing a beautiful tropical painting of the Old San Juan in mind and working with clay. This is going to be a step by step process in wish children can take their time creating something they are going to be proud of!
_____August 2-6 Visiting Alaska: This is going to be a fantastic and wild expedition. Children will learn about the beauty of the wild Alaska at it’s best. They will create an awesome giant black bear and a 3D glazier scene with recycled materials. These projects are going to be fantastic! It will take a few days to complete since is going to be created on a “step by step” process in order to reach their maximum potential and create something your child can be proud of!!!
_____August 9-13 Exploring Africa: Children will be inspired to create beautiful artwork of the rich cultural traditions of Africa, the people & it’s cities and of course the natural wonders of this continent. Children will use African inspired fabrics and other fun materials to create a one of a kind picture that will captivate Africa at it’s best! They will also create with polymer clay African inspired beads to be used to make their own jewelry. These are going to be a fun projects and we guaranteed you will love it and treasure it for years to come.
_____August 16-20 Expedition to Ireland: If your child enjoys painting this is the week for him/her. During this week we will focus on Ireland’s nature best landscapes in order to create a beautiful step by step oil painting on canvas. Children will listen to Irish inspired music as they create a beautiful painting among other fun projects, reflecting Ireland’s fun traditions.
_____August 23-27 Exploring Hawaii This is nothing less than a fun and exciting week! Children will listen to Hawaiian music as they design Hawaii’s most active volcano, enjoy making lace and grass skirts among other fun Hawaiian crafts. Your child not only will have fun creating but will gain confidence and socialize. Another key week for practicing motor skills!

_____August 30 - September 3 Expedition to New Orleans Final Week This is going to be a Mardi Gras party week! Fun, fun and more fun as the children design Mardi Gras masks and costumes, jewelry and more. At the end of the week we should have a party New Orleans style!

Children’s Scenic Oil Painting Excursion Saturday June 12, 2010 Enjoy the privilege to have your child selected for a one of a kind art excursion. Children accepted for this special event not only will enjoy a gorgeous vista but will have the opportunity to have fun developing “Plein Air Painting” skills. Children will have fun with peers that share the same interest and of course everyone will have time to play too! Best of all everything is all inclusive...all art supplies included. All you need to do is show up! Our travel vehicles are 7D school buses and drivers are 7D licensed for your peace of mind.
